Come Stay A While...

Let me preface this post by saying that on Friday... the first day of the first weekend of the new year... I lost Ace.  Like seriously, had to get in the car and drive around the hood in a complete panic listening for squeaky shoes and two-year-old boisterous singing.  That little rascal had saddled up on his red bike and torn off to find adventure.  I suppose he was sick of the Mister and I trying to organize the house and wrap up loose ends from 2013 and generally complete some lingering "to-dos" before the real rhythm of life is assumed in full January force.  I kinda can't blame him.

Alas, he was found in the neighboring school yard nearing a busy little crossroads where he could either cross the road into uncharted territory, or head back home.  He was deliberating when I caught him just in time.  And of course, as soon as I yelled his name he cruised at the speed of light, in the other direction.
Sigh.

So, when RyGar suggested we waste no time and book the first stay-cation of 2014, the whole lot of us readily agreed to his master plan and packed up our things for a hotel adventure.

We've kind of got it down by now.  The littles roll their wheely bags through the parking garage, into the elevators, waving at every gawking guest as they act like they own the place.  I like to think they are spreading sunshine, but let's be honest, the crowd is probably split 50/50 - happiness to see our trio of little gents OR prayers uttered to the Heavens that we're not staying on their floor.
They need not worry, most of our time is spent in the pool - I mean... where else?!

We went out to dinner and watched the ice-skaters.  We learned a new word, "Zamboni" that just cracked us up and was said aloud randomly a zillion times resulting every time in a chorus of laughter.

We had ice cream - in bed - because Mama didn't have to change the sheets.  And watched a movie - in bed - because why the heck not?  And that is kind of the whole point, right?  No discussion of work trips or laundry or cleaning up toys or filing away paperwork...
Just play time. Together time. Us time. We had a nice time.

And look, we woke to blue skies and rainbows.  No joke.  Which ties in nicely with our previous post... see if you look hard enough you can find 'em anywhere.  :)

Along with a fresh batch of hotel shenanigans.

The staycation sounds great! I love the picture of the hotel bed diving. Almost as fun as the pool.

Looks fun! You guys are pros at the one night staycations I'd say!

You guys are such fun parents. Your boys will remember and love all the little extras you do for them. And I love letting kids be a part of "real world" experiences like hotels and restaurants. I think if you start them out young, they know how to behave, and what is expected of them in such situations. Good job mama!
