A Hunting We Will Go....

Every year we go deer hunting thanks to Grandpa Hooky gifting this mama a Lifetime License back before I could even hunt.  If you ask Ryan he says it was the main part of my marital dowry that attracted him to me.  :)
And every year is a little bit different and a little bit the same...
This year we had cold temps with the remnants of the previous week's snowstorms on northern slopes and shaded bits of ground between tall sagebrush.
We also had BB guns and .22s for the little dudes to practice shooting with in between drives.
AND we had FOUR little hunters.  One more than last year and the littlest dude kept up and held his own.  Until we were done that is.  #snugglesesh
The boys mastered their military alphabet and learned more of their radio ten-codes.  You can bet yer buckets they got out the walkies when we got home to practice with their buddies.
Mama scored but not on opening day like usual.  The night I got my buck it was just Ryan and my Dad and I, which was fun... and of course, when we made it to the Bick house, my little gents gave me a royal greeting.  :)
It's hard to see the change in the deer herd in our beloved country.  We had to hunt harder, that's for sure, but that means more time in the truck and the trees together.  I love being in beautiful places with my boys and I'm sure glad we have this time to unplug and enjoy one another's company.
Ryan and my Dad say I'm better company after my tag is filled.  They're probably right.  I hereby swear to be a happy camper no matter the status of my tag burning in my pocket.  :)

Random Tidbits of Life...

Hi - It's us.  The Gardner Gang.
Our current daily schedule is pure madness.
We school/work/workout/homemake/church/Boone all day long.
Then we go to practices and games and activities all evening.
We don't hate it.
These are the days, right?
I'm learning to do all the homework on Mondays because that day we have a light schedule of only two practices for two kiddos and scouts for one.
I'm also learning to prep the crock pot things on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights because those nights have a massive schedule of football games, soccer games, football practices, soccer practices, basketball games starting this week, parent teacher conference this past week, scouts & young womens and hey, let's throw in flu shots for kicks and giggles.
On Friday we collapse in a heap on the couch after we eat at Taco Amigo... the name does not lie - it's become one of my best friends on Friday evenings.  Except for the nights that we head out to a HS Football game or maybe if I'm lucky - a date night.  :)
I love being these boys' mama.  I love watching them learn new skills and excel in their activities.  I love how strong, healthy, curious and driven they are.  I love watching them be part of a team and adhere to words of coach's and teachers.
All this to say - gardening season is over - but we're still working on growing good humans over here.  Little boys who will grow into gentlemen and future leaders of the world.
SO... it isn't any wonder that our schedules to do so are full.  We won't ever look back and think,
"We just did too much" - so here we go... doing all the things.
And loving it.
