Every year we go deer hunting thanks to Grandpa Hooky gifting this mama a Lifetime License back before I could even hunt. If you ask Ryan he says it was the main part of my marital dowry that attracted him to me. :)
And every year is a little bit different and a little bit the same...
This year we had cold temps with the remnants of the previous week's snowstorms on northern slopes and shaded bits of ground between tall sagebrush.
We also had BB guns and .22s for the little dudes to practice shooting with in between drives.
AND we had FOUR little hunters. One more than last year and the littlest dude kept up and held his own. Until we were done that is. #snugglesesh
The boys mastered their military alphabet and learned more of their radio ten-codes. You can bet yer buckets they got out the walkies when we got home to practice with their buddies.
Mama scored but not on opening day like usual. The night I got my buck it was just Ryan and my Dad and I, which was fun... and of course, when we made it to the Bick house, my little gents gave me a royal greeting. :)
It's hard to see the change in the deer herd in our beloved country. We had to hunt harder, that's for sure, but that means more time in the truck and the trees together. I love being in beautiful places with my boys and I'm sure glad we have this time to unplug and enjoy one another's company.
Ryan and my Dad say I'm better company after my tag is filled. They're probably right. I hereby swear to be a happy camper no matter the status of my tag burning in my pocket. :)
